| Description : Ilayaraja is a Indian film music composer born on 2nd June 1943 in Theni district, Tamilnadu. Apart from composing he is also a singer, conductor, instrumentalist, film score composer, song writer and lyricist. He had composed 4500 songs in more than 950 films in various languages in India. He made his debut as a music composer in the film Annakkili, a Tamil film directed by Devaraj Mohan in 1976. He is referred to as Isaignani in the titles of his films. He has won four Indian National Film Awards- three for Best Music Direction and one for Best Background Score. He was bestowed the prestigious Padma Bhushan Award in 2010. He also received the NTR National Award in 2004. |
